On the way to a friends condo in Mammoth during the off season a few weeks back we went thru the town of Mojave off the 138. Driving around we found a cool abandoned motel, but more interesting was the Mojave air and Spaceport. Still an aerospace testing ground, ironically they call the place the Bone yard as it has Carcasses of many out-of-use one airliners one of the largest resting places for retired airplanes in America. I’m going to try and get access to the place, but this time around I contented myself with taking reference pictures thru fences. This is the first in a series of Jet paintings.

Nice, I like your brushwork!
I like what you did with it since I last saw it, you really worked out the color.
ooh, i like this... but i'm a sucker for red jets.
I have loved airplanes since I was a wee one. I'm now almost 61 (yikes!!!) Love this pink jet and the tarmac colors. I salivate at the thought of painting out in a bone yard...especialy decaying airliners. Those are my fav. Waiting to see more! I have a helicopter on my blog. NOT my fav. aircraft, but the perspective was a challenge not to shrink from.
Nice! The bone yard sounds like a very cool place. Looking forward to more of these.
You always have the most interesting compositions. I am also looking forward to seeing more from this great location!
i like how you create such vibrant texture inside the shapes. i should force myself to try that too.
thanks Thor!
BEAUTIFUL PAINTING !
sending this note from across the pacific. i enjoy reading your entries in your blog. I love the jet painting. oh, and the art class you have with a lot of chattering old women - funny. hehehe, i am teaching painting to some old women too and well, they do chatter a lot. :-)
Thanks Tony,
Your advice was a big help.
that is fantastic - looking forward to the series.
Great piece - I lovge the bold red!
Uncle Phil! Yeah so was the owner, he paints all his commie jets red. ;-)
It is enjoyable to see something normally portrayed and smooth, fast and shiny in your style.
I am excited to see what other planes you paint.
David the Decaying Airliners are coming. I've got two down.
thanks Pumml- I'm taking to them...
