Got out the other morning with pal Rich to do a little PA near the LA river. They had moved where they park the engines due to bridge construction so we wasted a bit of time looking and started late. Did a quickie little train painting I "settled" on. Nothing amazing, I made up the sky to sexy it up. Taking in three pretty big Acrylics I've just finished to be shot. Pretty happy about them, have a new respect for acrylics... Perhaps one will be ready by next Friday.
Oil on linen 8x10
Rich mixes some watercolors...

Cool painting, and I like what you did with the sky!
I remember back when I had to drag you kicking and screaming to paint out by the LA River... all you wanted to paint back then was water and trees. *haha*
You settled on this? I like it. the limited color scheme makes the train seem organic, like it sprung forth from the earth about 20 miles back.
That bit of blue on the front part of the train "puts you there."
A sense of reality, good, I like it.
If I have not understood evil, does William, the acrylic one give him problems?
I could never have adapted to.
I owe it all to you Tony. All of it. Thanks man.
BG that how it feels when you have another shot in mind...
thanks Bill that was an aftert thought to spice it up.
Vicente,
The Open acrlics don't dry as fast so I can do more
Don't you forget it :-)
See you next week for the workshop.
Happy Thanksgiving Bill!
Hope the next shot is the one you want!

Tony I know you will always remind me. I can see you walking away from my death bed annoyed I didn't mention you. I'm so all about me like that.
I love it, William!
Very simple yet very cool to look at!
The sky looks great BTW!

I'll be more annoyed that you'll give Donald all the credit :-)
This is a nice piece, that blue you chose is perfect for the train. Fortunately the train stuck around long enough to be painted.
Nice colours on both of them!
Really beautiful painting! I love the sky the most..it look so free yet so strong and great!
thanks Dean,
thor and Faz!
Beautiful color. I like your subject matter, a lot of mood created in your work.
