$3 parking
Oil on canvas board 12x16
Searching for interesting subjects for and upcoming show with a basic downtown Los Anegles theme, I found this interesting composition. This is a parking lot of the Blackstone building on 901 S. Broadway. What I like about it is every element in the picture is framing or pointing to the center of attention of the little taco stand and parking lot signs. There even happened to be a figure coming into the light for more interest. For those reasons I used this for a recent demo where I painted 90% of it finishing the other 10% at home.

Hey, I remember that view! Dramatic composition and value range. You did a great job with it, I love the blue and orange complimentaries. That red arrow is a nice little spot... A++
I totally want to climb that ladder!
i like this one a lot.
the shapes are really working.
nicely done.
Great light on that building Bill!
Looks great! Bill, will you by any chance be at the San Diego Comicon? would be great to meet you in person!
I just saw the ad in Southwest Art for the Frank Bette Plein Air Paint Out in Alameda that you are participating in. I hope you post something from the event.
I agree with Tony, the cool blue shadow shapes and the warm tones on the architecture were a great choice.
I like the treatment of the bldg on the left.. large solid shape without detail.. you left that for the mind.. also the sunny sky .. the sun... that relentless sun.
Thanks Tony , I just went to your blog, you have been busy!
BG let me take the picture

This is nice one William, but I still can't get over the freeway/blimp painting. I printed it and use it for inspiration.
Wow your paintings are beautiful!
I especially like the one entitled "3am".
The light in it is beautiful.
