99 Industry and Bakersfield aftermath

9x12 oil opn linen

One more in the Bakersfield show
Bakersfield was a really joy, thanks to Emily, Nicole and Cindy for everything. Both the show and the Workshop were full and the other shows exciting as well. Had some sales and the books moved well, but people are still being a little cautious in this economy in committing to the big paintings. The show will be up for 2 months so I'm hoping for the paintings to pray on the minds of the many collectors who showed interest. I forgot my suit pants, but everyone seem to think the paint stained paints went with the suit jacket as a sensible artist look.

William, Congratulations on your successful show. Even though collectors are a little leary these days, your art is top notch and it's just a matter of time. By the way, your outfit looks very distinguished.

Geez, this (99 industry) is so cool. Love the strokes and the suggested structure of the water tower is awesome (knifed?). :)

Congrats William! Wish I could have checked out the show in person, but I am on the east coast.

I probably would have just gone in jeans. You're an artist, right? No one can tell you you dressed wrong!

The museum show was great but Bakersfield on the other hand is a whole different story!

Even Mooky couldn't wait to get home!

Paint-stained pants with a blazer are perfect. I would have done the same. (Well, and maybe added a beret, too.)

Great to see you in the limelight again Will! I have to agree with Sharon.. Bakersfield is another story and then some. But to have a roof over your work, friends and patrons in attendance.. how do you beat that? And it is a nice parenthesis on '08.. The painting with the yellow low-laying building reminds me of the Pasadena excursion we went on by the power station. Simple shapes - fantastic painting!

...Thought I left a comment earlier but I don't see it - so I'll try again. I love your work, William, ever since finding you in Artists Magazine. Do you do workshops? I'm new to painting, but I'd make the trek, if possible. I live in Ohio now (formerly Cali.) but I'd have lots of folks to visit out there. Thanks,
Christine

Congratulations on your show. I agree about the paint spattered pants being the perfect foil for the suit jacket.
I adore water tower paintings.
