Garbage Again
More JCL
This is the third pass on the same picture. An early version is posted here way back. The paint is getting pretty thick and overworked . :-) Somehow I hope it kind adds to the subject, like I painted it with colored dirt. Which I suppose it is technically oils are... The truck was originally to blue and hard edged for my taste these days so I warmed it up.
Old artists I like JC Leyendecker

Fantastic painting, thanks for sharing it. Leyendecker is my all time favorite.
I think the texture adds to the grungy, dinged-up appearance these babies get; whole painting also true to jumble of real-life scenery. I like.
Some of those Leyendeckers are ones you own, aren't they?
I love Leyendecker too. I just got a new book about him: J.C. Leyendecker, American Imagist.
Friendliest looking garbage conveyance I've ever seen. Wouldn't be surprised if it plays ice cream man music as it makes the rounds. Extra cool!
Congrats on being a Raymar Finalist for "Wagons" too...the piece remains one of my favorites. A grand here and there does add up! (-;
Hey Tom In JR Collage I told my teachers I wanted to paint like JCL and frazetta thay laughed at how wortless an idea that was. Put a TV in a sandbox they said, thats art.
V--
Just the boys... I never own a man.
It would have been fun to see Leyendecker do comics.
It s a good one David-- did you spot the fake?
I like Leyendecker too, but I like your painting better.
I know he is good but I can't warm up to Leyendeker...What a loss for me!!...I don't like el Greco either, or Chuck Jones, or Heckle and Jeckle but I am crazy about Chaim Soutine and Bonnard, the Three Stooges and Carl Dryer and the novels of Hans Fallada...Well. To each one his/her taste!
Thanks a lot guys :-)
i know you mean some one else, but it´s funny, my name is also leyendecker and i paint...
i really like your picktures, and i have to give glamafez right, your paintings are better.
greetings
