The Break

Remember the Auction is the 25th!

While on my last visit to NY I to a fast snap of this waiter take a smoke break in front of the little Chinese restaurant next to the entrance to the apartment building were we were renting a studio. It was meant as a simple quickie, but has a little something I like more than the average figure painting I struggle to do.

Neart Burbank Airport and Charity Auction

Here is a view from driving down San Fernando Road in Burbank this is based on cheating the view and simplification to the maximum degree. The reference being the tiny corner of a photo blown up so far it was almost abstract. This truly is an "impression" of the area.

Stills lifes and Charity Auction

Did a bunch of little still Life's last weekend. Here are some of then that dried and I'm willing to show. I think still life's are a great exercise in flexing slightly different painting muscles. I do find it hard to be original with then as many painters have worn out fruit, vegetables and flowers. However, I did my first lemon and lived to talk about it. Euglow made it ok for me. I'll post my artist I like a bit later.

The Pitch

This was a moment that turned into a confrontation. While taking pictures in NY with pal Tony Peter's I was about to take a picture of a cop leaning on a lamppost when this kid leaned into the shot to pitch his Rap CD to a grandmother. I held my position hoping he would back up, but he stayed there then noticed me. He confronted me and demanded I not take his picture. I said I'm taking a picture of the cop, not him. He ratted me out to the cop who hassled poor Tony. Filled with bravura that he had used the system to game the man, I asked to see his business license for selling his CD's and that when things got really ugly. The cop was really embarrassed he that to protect this young thugs rights. Now he got what he feared, his picture for everyone to see. The picture is called the pitch, but I was temped to call it the asshole.

On the easel ( cropped)... first warning this painting when finished is going to disturb some viewers.
